In 2006, the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University
of Sussex marked its 40th anniversary with a programme of events and
activities that sought to “reinvent development research” and assure
its continued effectiveness over the coming 40 years. The goal of
this 40th Anniversary programme was to assure the positive impact of
future research on development issues. Some questions examined
included: What are the development challenges of the next 40 years?
How will development research need to be “‘reinvented” to better meet
them? The 40th Anniversary Programme enabled a comprehensive dialogue
between development actors from around the globe on these two sets of
issues.
Please join us at IDRC on May 9th from 2 – 3:30pm for a discussion
with IDS Sussex Director, Professor Lawrence Haddad, who will present
findings from the
IDS 40 dialogues.
